Wine & Spirits features again this year GINÉ GINÉ amongst 11,000 blind-tasted wines from all over the world.
GINÉ GINÉ 2019 has been featured amongst the World’s Top 100 wines for 2022 and a Best Buy by renowned Wine & Spirits. Having obtained 92 points, our GINÉ GINÉ repeats mention, being also 2018 vintage included in this Top 100 World Selection. Also to be considered is that GINÉ GINÉ is the only wine under the Priorat Qualified Designation of Origin shortlisted by the Wine & Spirits panel and critics, from a blind taste of more than 11,000 wines from around the world.
As of Wine & Spirits: “First released from the 1996 vintage, this is the original blend from the Giné family, long-time farmers in Gratallops with 79 acres of vines. It is Grenache and Carignan, half from relatively young vines (up to 30 years old), half from old vines. In 2019, the wine is ripe, grounded in rustic earthiness. You can taste the heat of the season in its peppery austerity of fruit melding into chocolate-rich tannins, the two combining in a supple Priorat for a cookout” (Wine & Spirits: Autumn Special Edition, September of 2022).
GINÉ GINÉ, pure Priorat in a Top 100 wine
GINÉ GINÉ is an iconic wine for BUIL & GINÉ as it is the first one to be produced and released to the market in 1996, setting the entrance of the brand into the world of wine. GINÉ GINÉ represents an introduction to the Priorat: a wine conceived to express the essence of this region through its most distinctive traits. These are: local varieties, terroir and minerality.
GINÉ GINÉ is a blend of Grenache and Carignan from different vineyards, partly old vines. The grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks with no added yeasts. Maceration of the grapes with the skins is long, up to ten days. The malolactic fermentation takes places in French oak casks. Varieties are then blended and transferred to stainless steel tanks for a short ageing. Wine is bottled and released to the market after one year average in bottle.
GINÉ GINÉ, amongst World’s Top 100 and adding mentions
GINÉ GINÉ receives excellent mentions in wine reviews and scores high in all contests where the wine is presented. To obtain these recognitions in an international scope is seen by BUIL & GINÉ as an objective gauge of the quality consistency in all vintages.
As such, WINE SPECTATOR has recently scored 90 GINÉ GINÉ 2019: “A well-balanced, medium-bodied version, offering flavors of wild strawberry and cherry fruit, red licorice and a touch of loamy earth backed by fresh citrus peel acidity. The lightly chewy finish reveals milled pepper and thyme. Cariñena and Garnacha”.
On the other hand, reputed American Dr. Owen Bargreen, has given 91 points to GINÉ GINÉ 2019: “this is very fresh and focused with tart red fruits that mingle well with dusty soils and worn leather notes. Rich, with good finesse, enjoy this outstanding value in the near term”.
Also, US’ International Wine Report has released excellent reviews this October 2022 of BUIL & GINÉ Wines. About GINÉ GINÉ: “A fruit forward Garnacha and Carinyena blend with plum, ripe dark cherry, raspberry, and sweet pipe tobacco aromas. Fruitiness repeats on a balanced palate with slightly grippy tannins and a long finish.”
GINÉ GINÉ has also received a Gold medal from Germany’s Berliner Wein Trophy and Spanish Peñín Guide 2022 has given it a score of 91 points. To keep in mind also is the Gold Medal received by Mundus Vini – Meininger Verlag earlier this year, being GINÉ GINÉ 2019 selected Best of Show Priorat.
