The weeping of the vines at the beginning of March unmistakably marks the arrival of Spring. This is a characteristic sign of the awakening of the vine from its winter slumber which announces its imminent sprouting. Sprouting of our vines in the Priorat has arrived on March 20 together with a sudden increase in temperatures and an ongoing drought alert.
Despite the lack of rain, the vineyard continues its life cycle. During the end of March, little brown buds on the bare wooden parts of the vine burst open, forming tiny green shoots. The sprouting of the vines together with the blooming of wild flowers start to depict our landscape with a colorful array of lively colors.
As the spring weather gets warmer, a canopy of leaves starts to form as the green shoots continue to grow and the flowering of the vine follows.
